We all face trials in life, but by God’s Grace, we can face them with a joy that is unfathomable to outside observers. Join us as we peel apart the deep layers of meaning from this verse with our special guest speaker, Dr. Rudy Ramphal, and through musical worship led by Tony Martin. Summerfest is our premier week-long retreat for retired and semi-retired adults. Bring a group of friends or join us yourself for an unforgettable week at the peaceful fortress called Caswell. Take in the sights and sounds of creation, experience meaningful worship with new and old friends, and enjoy fresh food prepared just for you. In addition, many breakout activities are scheduled to help you learn and grow, perhaps in new ways! Or kick back and relax on one of our porches as the tide rolls in and out again.

Dr. Rudy Ramphal

Keynote Speaker

Rudy was born in Guyana, South America and at the age of 5 relocated with his family to the Bahamas. At the age of 13 he moved to Brunswick County NC. Rudy graduated from South Brunswick High and, subsequently from Methodist University in Fayetteville, with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. He also holds a Masters in Pastoral Theology from Cardiff University in Wales, UK as well as a Master of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry from Campbell University. Rudy currently serves as the pastor of Elizabethtown Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, NC and previously served as the Pastor of Brunswick Island Baptist Church, in Holden Beach, NC.

Rev. Tony Martin

Worship Leader

Tony grew up in Kannapolis, NC and graduated from Davidson College and Southwestern Baptist seminary. As a minister of music he has served churches in High Point, Matthews and Kannapolis, NC. For the past 27 years, he and his wife Michael have served in Johnson City, TN. For Tony, the highlight of most years since the third grade has been coming to Caswell, and when he was ready to propose marriage to Michael, he brought her here! Rev. Dr. Clif Harris

Drama Skits

Clif Harris has served as the Minister of Music and Worship at Winter Park Baptist Church in Wilmington NC for the past 33 years. He has planned worship for various worship experiences for the NC Baptist State Convention and CBF of NC. He has served many years as a planning team member, chaperone and director for All State Youth Choir of NC. Clif is on the writing staff of Skit Guys Ministry and loves to help worshipers have deeper worship experiences through music and drama. Clif will be leading drama skits Tues., Wed., and Thurs. during the morning worship services.
