A great opportunity for aspiring environmental educators!
Fort Caswell’s Environmental Stewardship Program is seeking a recent marine biology, environmental science, or education graduate to serve as our next Coastal Education Intern. The 6-month to 1-year internship involves: 1) providing outdoor environmental education programs for school groups, 2) assisting with team-building programs, 3) maintaining the saltwater aquaria and exhibits, and 4) the opportunity to work with the sea turtle monitoring program on Caswell Beach. Applicants should be energetic, flexible, and have a passion for learning and teaching about the environment. The internship requires working on/near the water in a variety of weather conditions, on the beach, marsh, floating docks, and fishing pier. Lifeguard certification is preferred. START DATE: Mid-late January 2018 (date flexible)
TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC: Upcoming or recent college graduates (graduation on or before December 2017) interested in pursuing a career in outdoor education; strong background in science and/or education required.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week +/-, occasional evening and weekend hours.
COMPENSATION: $250/week plus room and board (housing, utilities, internet, and most meals). Opportunities to attend professional development workshops.
LOCATION: Fort Caswell Coastal Retreat & Conference Center, Oak Island, North Carolina
