Exploring Fort Caswell: Music and Folklore By the Sea
Join nationally recognized folk musician Anne Lough and historian/author Miller Pope as they take us on a fascinating and uniquely American journey through time. Discover the rich tapestry of history and folklore that shaped what we know today as American Folk Music and the Golden Age of Piracy. Afternoon and evening adventures include an optional boat trip to Battery Island and Bonnets Creek, pirate grounds from days gone by, as well as a ghost walk through historic Southport and an old-fashioned oyster roast.           Date Available: November 8 – 12, 2010

Exploring Southern Coastal Culture through Music and Literature
Take an historical journey through early southern culture by way of music and literature. Nationally recognized folk musician Anne Lough weaves the threads of English, Scots-Irish and African culture, preserved and cultivated in a rich tapestry of music. Gullah-Geechee history and culture come to life through a series of lectures and an afternoon with Aunt Perlie Sue. Discover life as an early settler in the Cape Fear region through local historian and sea captain Bert Felton, all wrapped up in this week long adventure.           Date Available: January 24 - 28, 2011

Meeting Facilities

Spacious meeting rooms can be set-up to your specifications as well as all audio and video equipment can be set-up for your needs when reserved in advance. Meeting Rooms available for large group meetings with break-out rooms available for discussion groups and breaks.

Accommodations

Lantana Lodge features spacious bedrooms, a living room, large kitchen, a premier dining and conference room, 24 person minimum.

The Smith Conference Center, located by the Cape Fear River, provides adult accommodations, a dining room and conference facilities. Maximum of four people per room
